We provide all canine reproduction services expertly and comprehensively!
Artificial insemination
We perform canine artificial inseminations into the uterus with the help of an endoscope, using fresh, frozen or chilled semen. The procedure is generally carried out while the bitch is awake. Imported semen makes it possible to use valuable stud dogs located abroad without travelling. Read more…
Semen bank
We offer freezing, storage, receiving and worldwide shipping of semen. Semen is stored in liquid nitrogen (at -196°C) and, to safeguard the viability of the sperm cells, the temperature must not fluctuate. Reliability is our strength: we use monitored liquid nitrogen tanks that continuously track the tank temperature. In addition, we produce the liquid nitrogen we need on site ourselves. Read more…
Heat checks and progesterone testing
With heat monitoring we aim to determine the bitch’s time of ovulation and the most favourable time for mating or artificial insemination. During a heat check we examine the structure of the bitch’s vagina and assess the progression of the heat using a cytological sample and progesterone testing. Progesterone measurements are performed on a laboratory-grade analyser (Siemens Immulite). Every measurement done at our clinic includes a veterinarian’s statement. When needed, we also accept samples brought in for analysis. Read more…
Reproductive problems
In reproductive problems we aim to identify the possible cause through a clinical examination and both blood and culture samples. With a culture sample and the associated sensitivity testing, we aim to target any medication as precisely as possible at the actual pathogen. Regarding medication, we of course always take into account possible effects on semen quality etc., so that the breeding use of the animals can continue unchanged.
Ultrasound examinations
We carry out pregnancy checks using ultrasound. In addition, ultrasound makes it possible to detect and investigate problem situations related to pregnancy. With the examination we can assess the number and viability of the foetuses, as well as detect foetal resorptions and any uterine pathologies.
Official X-ray imaging
We take official radiographs for breeding and the Finnish Kennel Club’s PEVISA programme (control of hereditary defects and diseases) – including hip and elbow joints and the spine. Imaging is done under sedation to ensure image quality and the dog’s wellbeing. The clinic is only responsible for taking the images; they are sent electronically to the Finnish Kennel Club, which issues the official statements. Read the instructions…
Sperm collection and analysis
Failed pregnancies in bitches, small litters or, for example, the age of the stud dog can be reasons to check the quality of a male’s semen. In this procedure the semen is collected, after which its quality is assessed (sperm concentration, motility, proportion of defective sperm cells).
Surgeries
So that we can support breeders from start to finish, we also offer surgical services. We perform basic surgeries such as castrations and sterilisations. In addition, caesarean sections and corrections of any structural defects (e.g. a vaginal septum). We use high-quality surgical equipment that improves patient safety (Ligasure) as well as anaesthesia monitoring.
Other services
We also carry out puppy checks, vaccinations (Eurican Herpes and basic vaccines) and microchipping. In addition, health checks for ageing bitches and any sampling related to breeding use (DNA).
